artist biography

Vey moves between performance artist & vocalist with playfulness, balancing excess with restraint. She utilises her voice, her body, samplers, synths and collaborations to question the current, the urgent, the timeless.

Vey’s practice unfolds in the space between careful construction and pure chance. Through this tension, she captures fragments from the life of a thirty-something navigating uncertainty, agency, and belonging. Just like her hometown Istanbul, a city where due to its history, contradictions found ways to coexist, Vey feels home in a layered reality. Always in motion between her various selves, she explores the friction between thoughts, actions, performance, and curiosity. This mosaic allows contrasts to not only coexist, but define her work.

She demands attention while making room for vulnerability, allowing moments of exposure to surface and take center stage when needed.

Vey is based in Berlin.

A core part of Resonance, a Berlin-based music community, Vey’s been co-organising their retreats and showcases since their first edition in 2020. She’s lent her vocals to acts within the community, both live and on record.

Through attending The Palace Residency in 2023, she’s found herself a frequent 90mil collaborator, hosting their open mic and playing their stage many times.
